National Parks Road Trip 2023 – Intro

In the spring of 2023, we did another month-long road trip around the United States.  We started from our new home in South Haven, Michigan. We did a loop that went as far east as Nashville, south to Houston and Big Bend National Park, west to Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado and back towards the Midwest.

Travel in summary: 

• 27 nights
• 5186 miles in the car
• 8 nights camping
• 5 nights with friends and family
• 14 nights in various levels of hotels

We visited in summary:

• 6 National Parks
• 6 State Capitol buildings
• 4 Presidential Libraries
• 10 major cities
• 1 Taylor Swift concert

The itinerary when we started looked like this:

We stuck mostly to this itinerary but we veered off of it occasionally.  We ended up not doing White Sands National Park or Oklahoma, for example.
